OTT Revolution: Bioscope Surpasses 10 Million Paid Subscribers
Bangladesh's homegrown streaming platform Bioscope has hit 10 million paid subscribers — more than Netflix Bangladesh — driven by original Bangla web series and exclusive live sports.
Bioscope, Grameenphone's homegrown streaming platform, has crossed 10 million paid subscribers — surpassing Netflix Bangladesh — on the back of original Bangla web series, exclusive live cricket rights and affordable mobile-first pricing.
Original Content Strategy
Bioscope has invested BDT 500 crore in original content this year, producing 40 web series, 15 films and 12 documentary series. Its crime thriller "Dhabangla" and romantic drama "Akash Chhoa Bhalobasha" each topped 5 million streams within two weeks of release.
Competitive Landscape
The platform competes with Chorki, Hoichoi and international giants Netflix and Amazon Prime. Bioscope's edge lies in its live sports offering — holding exclusive streaming rights to Bangladesh cricket home series, BPL and the national football league.
